Kelpfish..

Today was the first day of classes. I had 3 classes plus band. Between class and 2 and 3, I took what felt like an extremely long 1 hour break. I think it felt so long because I was hungry and I was partly dreading Bus. Law.

I got to see Claire today! We worked on our accounting homework. I was partly surprised that we were able to finish what is due for Wednesday. Now I have to read two chapters of business law, oh joy!. I believe that it will be a boring class. I might learn something new but, it will be painful to get there, including long days of being stuck in a stupid class room.

Jabber Jabber Jabber

I've been neglecting my blog the last couple of days.. time to write again.

This week was band camp and I am now uber sore. Tuba is heavy. I feel like I would wake up and go meet my torcher device every morning. I think, however, I have lost a little weight which is good. Eating just roman noodles and carrying an extra 42 pounds everyday. :)

Tomorrow, even though I don't get to sleep-in, shall be a day of rest. In the morning my Dad and I are going to get a chip reprogrammed for my camaro. We are hoping that the reprogramming will allow the car to start and continue running without us "forcing" it to run. I quote forcing because without one of us giving it more gas the engine would have died. This chip also could fix the knocking that the engine was doing.

Incredible Imagination

Thoughts thoughts...

This year I'm living with "new people," the only person I know is Blake. I felt like it was either Blake or no one.. so I went with Blake. I guess it'll be alright just a new experience.

Band was okay today. Looking at the new freshman, makes me wonder where they came from. They looked so tired after only learning three sets. Like what did they do in their high schools?

My mind is wondering, if i keep going it will begin to get disorganized..

Hotty Toddy

Wow. What a day. Today has been busy.
Started off at 8 o clock to get ready and go to southaven. The guy that was coming to listen to my engine knock didnt even show up. While I was there I went ahead and got my inspection sticker.. 10 freaking dollars because I have window tint.. I also got my oil changed and my car washed, so it wasn't a total waste.

Getting ready for band camp tomorrow is making me realize how much I am not ready. I need to learn my fingering and my bass cleft.

As a matter of fact.. I think I am going to do that now.

Good Golly

Today shall include:
Church

Finish loading cars
Going to Oxford

Getting a new key for my apt. since Campus Walk finds it necessary to change my locks on me....

Unload cars

Fix my room up to make it more "livable"

I am going to make today's blog short and sweet because I predict I will need the extra time later. I have a feeling that today will be bittersweet, leaving home but coming back to Oxford. Looking around my room at the moment feels empty. I hope that means Oxford will have a "homey" feeling. Last year that "homey" feeling wasn't there.. not one bit. If Daniel wouldn't have been there most of the time, I don't know how much I would have been able to handle.

I can't believe that summer is over already, where did the time go?

Finally. Facetious.

Today will be the last full day that I am at home. Summer passed by very quickly, it feels like school just let out last week. I shall spend the day packing last minute things as well as washing clothes.

Yesterday was probably my last trip to Walmart before I get to Oxford. It was like relearning where everything was all over again. Walmart has been remodeling their store all summer, and I've only been in there two or three times. I think, however, I do like their new set up. It is more consumer friendly you could say.

Anyhow... I guess I should go get busy now.. Long day ahead.

Elderly Egypt's Eggshells

I've been trying to think of an idea to blog about all morning...

I am still blank...

I have decided to tell you about yesterday.

I woke up, um, probably 9 o'clock or so. My dad wanted to go get an ecm for the car. My dad and I got around and when to Advanced Auto Parts in Hornlake, they could get the ecm the fastest, to pay for the part. I think it was like 88 dollars. I got a phone call from Advanced about one. I drove to Hornlake and back to find that we had received the wrong part. Once again I get in the car and drive back to Hornlake. Steve, the store clerk/manager, and I searched the computer for the correct ecm. Come to find out.... I was told the car was an 86 the VIN appears to read as an 87 and the computer is an 88. It makes me feel as if I have a Johnny Cash car, from his song "One Piece at a Time."

Yesterday was also my last day of work. I went in expecting the worst because it was going to be my last day and the manager knew it. Turns out he didn't end up saying a whole lot to me, all night. We, the workers, even got to start zoning at about 6 o' clock. Zoning this early is unheard of with the certain manager we had. To top off the night I had about an hour or an hour and a half of overtime, and I got to be the lucky person to stay with Dave as he finished payroll. Over all it was a good last night at Fred's.

Dabbling Dogs

As you know school is just around the corner.. I have been getting stuff ready and packing up and what not. Yesterday after work I came into what my two little dogs had left me. Somehow they had gotten in my room and found some paper on the floor. The paper was shredded all over my room little scraps, bits and pieces. I wanted to kill them.. but this had probably happened hours earlier and they wouldn't even know what they had done.

So this being said.. how long can dogs remember things?

I have always been told if you don't catch the dog doing it, once you find what the dog has done it's too late and they wouldn't know what they are getting in trouble for anymore.

I have always thought Trixie could be some sort of motorcycle dog. I picture her sitting on the back seat with a little helmet on, just cruising down the road. When a loud car or bike passes her ear perk up. It's almost like she wants to go out and see it. My Camaro was pretty loud before I fixed my exhaust... Trixie would always wait by the door.. I'm not sure, but I think she just wanted to see it or something?! About a week ago I took her out there.. She was excited at first, tail wagging a thousand miles an hour. I set her in the passenger seat and turned the car over.. all the while expecting her to enjoy it.. When that car cranked I thought she was going to pee all over my seat. She got scared and hunkered down. I am thinking about trying again now that the extremely loud exhaust leak is fixed, She might like it better now. Who knows maybe she is one of the dogs that likes to look at loud cars and bikes but never really wants to try it.

Cars.. Voitures.. Fahrzeug

It boggles my mind how much our everyday lives revolve around cars. Why do we let cars control our lives?

What brought this on was Daniel... I mean I've always had a little interest in cars, but he really sparked my interest in 9th or 10th grade. He introduced me to the racing world, a whole different place, more on that later.

Daniel has seen me through 4 cars now, a 1994 Chevy Beretta, a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, a 1992 Ford F150 and now a 1986 Chevy Camaro. Daniel has played his part with each car. He has probably helped me the most with the Camaro seeing as it needed the most work. We rebuilt the engine and I am now in the process of trying to get it to run consistently. Well.. to make a long story short.. WE didn't rebuild it but we took it out and got it rebuilt, and then put it back in.

This whole summer has been spent working on my car.. Although it only took three weeks to get the engine out, rebuilt, and back in, there are other problems that arise within the process. These problems are usually easy to fix, but finding what is causing said problem is the challenge. I have been doing some thinking lately.. I enjoy working on cars, but I don't think I would want to make a carrier out of it. To much work involved, and I am not being lazy... there really is a couple hundred hours involved to take a car from not much more than a piece of junk on four wheels into, well... a car.

My hopes for my Camaro is to turn it into a mild/high performance street car. This is where I can use it for an everyday driver and also race it when I so choose. When I had the engine rebuilt, I put the biggest Comp Cam in that I could get for my engine. This cam took the horsepower from 290 to 375.. I think that is a pretty large jump from one part. There is other things I could do for it but I see no need. I've told Daniel all along if it can spin through first and go sideways in second it will be enough for me. I think it has it in it.. I just have to get it running..

Racing.. I felt like it was highly intense, on edge, when I went. Although I have never been down the track (yet). Helping the Ashmore's get set up at the trailers was great. I would help with what needed to be done and have just enough time to get back up to the track and watch again. The smell of gas.. The slight fuzzy feeling of racing alcohol on my hands.. The butterflies in my stomach as each light on the racing tree goes down. This is so vivid in my mind, I feel like it was just the other day I was there even though it has been over a year. I want to go back soon.. maybe I can go again before they end for this season!

Looking back over the summer with recent events.. C.B. you know what I'm talking about.. What would I do without my car? I don't want to ever think have to think about this question again. Honestly, I don't! I hope if I ever need a ride hopefully my friends will be there to help me.

Bulldozer Bonanza

So since it's about time for school to start back. I have been working at Fred's all summer. It's not much but it is at least a job. Well anyway, I put my notice in a few weeks ago. It is probably a good thing I did. I don't think I could handle the stupid people that much longer. I mean it is one thing to ask a stupid question now and then.. you know, okay whatever... but every person that asks you a question at work.. really now?!

The story begins on Friday, the start of the weekend before school starts. As you could assume we are out of most of the school stock, seeing as it is the end of the week and it has been heavily shopped. Well this stupid person asks me for the two pocket folders with brads. I tell her where they are and also tag on at the end "what's over there is all we have at the moment." She runs off to get her folders.. Shortly she comes back and asks if we have a yellow folder, while she is holding a blue folder in her hand. It has already been a long day at this point dealing with stupid people like her, so I get short with her. I tell her that she is lucky to be holding the blue one she has, as those folders have been moving quickly. She gets upset with me and gives me a dirty look and goes back to whatever the heck she was doing. I feel like I was short with her but still nice about. She just didn't listen when I told her that what we had was out already on the shelf.. she just got to be the lucky one that asked me the wrong question at the wrong time.

To continue the story... Sunday I was helping the manager put out some Faygo 12 packs. We were making a display up by the front door. We happen to be looking out the window about the time some lady that had just checked out, leaves.. She walks out and starts throwing her newly purchased bird seed on the ground. I look at Mike and say "why in the world is that lady throwing her seed on the ground? Why wouldn't she take that home.. We have enough stinking birds around here anyway.." he chuckles a little and says " you should go out there right now and start sweeping it up as she leaves, that would be funny."

Some stupid people are stupid and irritating and some stupid people are funny..
Hence the name Bulldozer Bonanza, because most of the people that shop at Fred's are irritating and I would like to run them over with a Bulldozer.

C.S.T

Adam's Apple

So, I'll start by introducing myself, after all that is the polite thing to do too.

I am Shane. I attend Ole Miss. I am attempting to major in Accountancy, boring I know however I am good at it. :)

Lacey, this is probably your fault.. You inspired me to look into blogging. And for my other friends.. They will show up on here in time. You shall know everyone of them.

I feel that keeping a blog will make me find what is important to me. I mean what on earth do I find interesting enough to keep a blog about.. I am sure there is something I find interesting enough to keep a blog on. Until I find it (which will probably be within the next few blogs), hang with me.

Since this is the first of many I will keep it short.

Peace,
